AURORA ABZUG

Artist Statement:

My work in painting constructs a visual memoir in which I record my interactions with my interior and exterior environments. My work applies some of the thematic and formal devices used by traditional realist painters to address contemporary (and personal) issues, such as mental illness and eating disorder, the ubiquity of social media and consumer capitalism, and personal identity as a marketable commodity.
