Justin Schachtman

Justin Schachtman has worked in a wide variety of media, but currently works primarily in wood, metal, and resin, creating kinetic artwork. The pieces he’s working on now are an exploration of energy, motion, and narrative. In his past paintings and drawings he’s sought out larger narratives, but with his mechanical artwork the narrative must fit through the filter of corporeal objects in motion. This creates challenging obstacles to overcome, the hallmark of a novel pursuit.

Recent exhibits include “Kromagnatron” at the Morris Museum - A Smithsonian Affiliate.
